Day 3: Havana

What a beautiful city to visit! There is old and new. It is a place in perpetual change. I start with a little walk on the Malecon with sea rejects.

Did you find the kid? I like to observe life around me. I had the chance to observe Cubans for 12 hours today. I walked so much that my sandals no longer have any grip!!! This is Chinatown.

A magnificent cathedral on Christmas Day.

People are paid to clean the streets. Many Cubans throw their trash in the street. I even saw people throwing their bottles directly into the sea.

A fridge for 3880 CUC (5430$ CAD) I wonder who would spend such a large sum on a fridge...

The next exciting step was to wait in line for 15 minutes to enter a store that sells soap, shampoo, diapers, etc. Like a pharmacy without the medications...phew, it was long for nothing special for a Quebecer who can buy whatever he wants...whenever he wants.

Diapers at 290 CUP for 35 diapers. Almost 9 CUP for one diaper, the price of a ham sandwich. All products are expensive in Cuba...

Luckily, street food is cheap. I enjoy an excellent Guarapo, a natural sugarcane juice for 2 CUP ($0.12)

I had to wait before being served because the refreshments are served in glasses. You have to wait for the waiter to do the dishes before you can enjoy... very ecological! I then eat a kind of warm croissant with ham inside.

I'm watching an unpredictable baseball game. People have to watch their heads...these kids are very good. I stay on the lookout and sometimes I return the ball to the kids.

I see again a scaffold that I saw two years ago... everything is still in place.

This is a great way to decorate a building under repair, I think it's a great idea.

I find a secret place to buy Revello with a plastic stick while people watching... I'm disappointed... it's not great for the environment. I paid 5 CUP ($0.30) in a place crowded with tourists. I'm sure many tourists don't know about this currency. They pay 7 times more for an ice cream in the nearby kiosk.

For the rest of the day I allow myself to explore the city using a double-decker bus for tourists. Why not! It's only 10 CUC ($14) for a tour lasting 1h45. Here is a view of the Malecon

The transport system is inefficient. The wait is endless.

Patience is required in Cuba for those who want to move. That's why I love my bike!!!
