Jour 4: Soyez généreux

Day 4: Be Generous

Great start to the day with ham bread and fresh mango juice.

The road is much easier to pedal despite the giant potholes. When road signs announce this, you have to be careful. Are the roads in bad condition in Quebec?

I got a visit from a stinging dragonfly while I was going downhill at high speed...here's the result. Oh, that hurts!!!

Not knowing where to go, I saw Route 123 on the map. I thought it might be faster www.fast123.ca

Then, as if chance were not enough, I decide to go for a walk in Guatemala City.

It is a small village with a small beach.

I finally find a casa de renta for the first time alone. It's still easy to locate with the blue anchor.

If you ever see the red anchor, know that it means lodging for Cubans only. I walk through the streets of Mayari and try to find a cheap restaurant, but everything seems closed. I see men playing dominoes and I approach...

I look carefully at the part and ask if there is a place to eat rice. A man tells me: come to my house I will make you something to eat!!!

The situation is rather unreal and what happens next is rather unbelievable. I eat the best meal in several days and I ask him how much he would like to have. He tells me:

You don't owe me anything! Money is not important. What is important is the actions. Whatever you give will be returned to you a hundredfold. Camilo

Another proof that people are generous. I leave this family with a feeling of giving back to others every day. I feel like turning into Chantal Lacroix... In the street, a man comes to ask me for money and without hesitation I give him a few pesos. On the corner of another street I give to another man. My heart is full and my eyes are wet.

To end this eventful day, I will eat my emotions with a plate of 25 cent ice cream.

Phew! What a day!!! A day of 92 km of cycling, but above all a day full of emotions. Be generous!!!
